Types of Stainless Steel Pipes

Stainless steel pipe is a kind of hollow, long and round steel, which is widely used in petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light industry, mechanical instruments and other industrial transport pipelines and mechanical structural parts. In addition, when the bending and torsional strength are the same, the weight is light, so it is also widely used to manufacture mechanical parts and engineering structures. It is also commonly used as furniture and kitchenware.

Classifications

Stainless steel pipes are divided into ordinary carbon steel pipes, high-quality carbon structural steel pipes, alloy structural pipes, alloy steel pipes, bearing steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, and bimetal composite pipes, plating and coating pipes to save precious metals and meet special requirements. There are many kinds of stainless steel pipes with different purposes, different technical requirements and different production methods.

Classification by Production Mode

Stainless steel pipe can be divided into seamless pipe and welded pipe according to production mode. Seamless steel pipe can also be divided into hot rolled pipe, cold rolled pipe, cold drawn pipe and extruded pipe. Cold drawn and cold rolled pipes are secondary processing of steel pipe; Welded pipe is divided into straight seam welded pipe and spiral welded pipe.

Classification by Section Shape

Stainless steel pipe can be divided into round pipe and special-shaped pipe according to the shape of cross section. The special-shaped tubes include rectangular tubes, rhombic tubes, elliptical tubes, hexagonal tubes, octagonal tubes and various asymmetric tubes with different sections. Special tubes are widely used in various structures, tools and mechanical parts. Compared with circular tubes, special-shaped tubes generally have larger inertia moments and section modulus, greater bending and torsion resistance, which can greatly reduce the structural weight and save steel.

The stainless steel pipe can be divided into equal section pipe and variable section pipe according to the profile shape. Variable cross-section pipe includes tapered pipe, stepped pipe and periodic cross-section pipe.

Classification by Pipe End Shape

Stainless steel pipes can be divided into smooth pipes and threading pipes according to the pipe end status. For important threading pipes, special threads are used for connection. For some special pipes, in order to compensate for the influence of threads on the pipe end strength, the pipe end is usually thickened before threading.
